Apple to unveil new iPads, MacBooks, AirPods at October 30 event

If you are wondering what Apple's October 30 event is all about, the notorious Ming-Chi Kuo analyst thinks he has an idea and given his good track record of predictions, he might be onto something here. Kuo says that Apple is going to refresh its iPad Pro lineup, which was always expected to be the main event. Rumors claim that the company will announce new Apple Pencil, Face ID, slimmer bezels, no Home button and USB-C connector instead of Apple's proprietary Lightning port. More surprisingly, Kuo says that the Cupertino-based company is looking to refresh its iPad mini lineup with new processor and display. Unfortunately, the analyst isn't sure if the mini will make it to the show or will be announced in the following months. The Mac lineup is also due for an update - new internals for the iMac and Mac mini. We also expect a more affordable MacBook to tag along. And finally, Apple might finally bring its long-awaited AirPower charging mat that can charge your i...

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite could be getting a new color and 8GB RAM trim

Xiaomi is clearly no stranger to the "spray and pray" approach to mobile phone lineups, growing increasingly popular in recent years. The Mi 8 family is now sprawling, with models including the Mi 8 Explorer, Mi 8 Pro, regular  Mi 8 ,  Mi 8 SE  and the proverbial runt of the family, so to say - the Mi 8 Lite. According to a recent TENAA filing, the latter might be getting a new coat of paint, along with a memory upgrade up to 8GB of RAM. We won't really get into the merits of the latter on a mid-range device, but we will note that the "M1808D2TT" looks quite impressive in what we can only describe as a dual-color look, complete with accents. Mi 8 Line new color This is clearly a new dye, since it has the back and front of the unit both finished in black and a reddish, pink or perhaps orange middle frame and camera rim accents. It's definitely a different look. But, before you get too excited, it should be noted that one of the original TENAA ...

Samsung Galaxy Note10 to come with a 6.66" display

Industry insiders claim that the Samsung Galaxy Note10 will come with a 6.66” display next year. This is reportedly part of the specifications that Samsung Mobile handed to Samsung Display so that the panel maker can start work on the larger Super AMOLED panel. The Galaxy Note9 has a 6.4” screen size and (assuming the aspect ratio stays the same), the next Note flagship will offer about 8% more surface area. Note that while the iPhone XS Max has a 6.5” screen, due to the aspect ratio and the notch, the usable surface area is actually smaller than Note9’s. One of the three Galaxy S10 models, the S10+, will fill the gap with a 6.44” display. The other two S10 versions are expected to stay at 5.8”, the same size as the current S9 (and the S9+ is at 6.2”). The Galaxy Note9 display is currently Samsung's largest Infinity Display Anyway, the Galaxy Note10 is code named “Da Vinci”. The “Note10” moniker is a placeholder for now as Samsung might change the naming scheme with th...
