Jeff Bezos is launching a new conference dedicated to AI, optimism, and Amazon

The event is an extension of Amazon’s semi-secret MARS conference, but will include plenty of self-promotion For the last couple of years, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has held an annual  invite-only event  where billionaires, astronauts, and roboticists could rub shoulders and chat about the future of tech over gourmet nibbles. Now that event is being turned into a  public conference  — one that “embraces an optimistic vision for scientific discovery” and will feature demos, workshops and talks about machine learning and space exploration. “We’re at the beginning of a golden age of AI,” said Bezos in a press statement. “Recent advancements have already led to invention that previously lived in the realm of science fiction — and we’ve only scratched the surface of what’s possible.” The new event will be held in Las Vegas between June 4th and 7th later this year. Forbes billionaires list 2018: Amazon's Bezos richest, Mukesh Ambani ranked 19 Bezos is "the first person to top $100 billion as number one on the Forbes list of the World's Billionaires," the magazine said. Philanthopist and Microsoft founder  Bill Gates   is second ($90 billion), investment guru   Warren Buffet  third ($84 billion),   Bernard Arnault and family   fourth ($72 billion), and Facebook founder-CEO   Mark Zuckerberg   fifth ($71 billion). Jeff Bezos becomes first billionaire since 1999 to have net worth over $100 billion

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’s net worth has crossed the magical $100 billion mark. Amazon’s shares surged by more than two percent due to Black Friday sales. In the process, he became the first billionaire since 1999 to build a 12-figure net worth. According to Bloomberg, this year itself, worth of Bezos rose by around $34 billion. Amazon (AMZN, Tech30) stock climbed 2.5 per cent on Friday to put Bezos over the top. The stock got a lift from reports that online shopping on Thanksgiving and Black Friday jumped 18 per cent compared with last year. On Friday alone, Bezos made almost $2.4 billion. He owns 78.9 million shares of Amazon, worth $93.6 billion. In 2013, Bezos purchased The Washington Post newspaper. A number of other business investments are also managed through Bezos Expeditions.
