Apple announced today that its  new Mac Pro  starts at an already pricey $6,000, but the company neglected to mention how much the top-of-the-line model will cost. So we shopped around for equivalent parts to the top-end spec that Apple’s promising. As it turns out: $33,720.88 is likely the  bare minimum  — and that’s before factoring in the four GPUs, which could easily jack that price up to around $45,000. For all that dough, big-budget video editors and other creative types get a lot of firepower: a 28-core Intel Xeon W processor, an almost-impossible-to-comprehend 1.5TB of RAM, 4TB of SSD storage, and four AMD Radeon Pro Vega II Duo GPUs — assuming you can afford one. Add in a  Pro Display XDR monitor  (and  a Pro Stand to go with it ), and you’re looking at a workstation that could clear $50,000. We still have almost five months left to wait before Apple unveils the new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max, and iPhone 11R, or whatever the company ends up calling its iPhone XR successor. That’s quite a long time — nearly half a smartphone generation — but so many details surrounding the new iPhones have already leaked. Much of what we know can be attributed to TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who remains the top Apple insider in the world. Kuo is plugged into Apple’s supply chain and shares all sorts of early details with his clients. The debate over whether an Apple iPad can replace a laptop remains polarized. But with the launch of the next iteration of  iOS ,  Apple  could finally remove one of the longest-running arguments against the iPad as a productivity device. The iPad is on track to get mouse support for the first time, according to  Federico Viticci , editor in chief of  MacStories . Viticci revealed his scoop on  episode 239 of the Connected podcast . An 18-year-old New Yorker filed a $1 billion lawsuit against Apple on Monday, claiming its facial-recognition software incorrectly linked him to thefts at several stores. Ousmane Bah was arrested by NYPD officers on Nov. 29 after being blamed for thefts at Apple Stores in Boston, New Jersey, Delaware and Manhattan, according to his suit. It says the actual thief was caught stealing $1,200 worth of merchandise (specifically   Apple Pencils ) from the Boston store last May. The person used a stolen ID that included his name, address and other personal details, but not his photo, he noted. Bah's first indication of this was a Boston municipal court summons, his suit said, but he hadn't been to the city before and was apparently attending his senior prom in Manhattan on the day of the theft. Photo : Google Apple  will be releasing its next-generation iPhone later this year, however, this hasn’t stopped leaks from popping up online. Two new leaks have surfaced online, one is claiming to reveal an official render of the upcoming 2019 iPhone while the other one is an image of an assembly component that was stolen from Apple’s supply chain. Both of the leaks have been posted on Weibo. The new iPhone 11 image render once again confirms that the upcoming Apple iPhone 11 will feature a triple camera setup on the back in a triangle configuration. The image also shows off its Black and White colour options. In the other leak, we get to see an image of an assembly part, which was apparently stolen from the Foxconn factory. To recall, we saw schematics of the same part leaked by SlashLeaks a few days ago. The part consists of a large cut-out to house the camera setup.

After years of speculation and on-again, off-again rumors, Apple has finally unveiled its biggest push into streaming video: Apple TV Plus. CEO Tim Cook just announced the service — featuring Apple’s original programming — alongside a redesigned, more advanced Apple TV app at the Steve Jobs Theater. “As you can tell, today is going to be a very different kind of event,” Cook said to kick things off. The introduction of Apple TV Plus, which the company says will become “the new home for the world’s most creative storytellers featuring exclusive original shows, movies and documentaries” was led by a video featuring Hollywood director Steven Spielberg and stars attached to the shows that will help shape Apple’s service. Spielberg said that he will be resurrecting the 93-year-old Amazing Stories brand for Apple TV Plus. At Apple ’s “show time” services event today, it announced a new Apple Card credit card, promising to improve things about the credit card experience with simpler applications, no fees, lower interest rates, and better rewards. To get an Apple Card, users will be able to sign up on their iPhone in the Apple Wallet app and get a digital card that they can use anywhere Apple Pay is accepted “within minutes.” Customers will also be able to track purchases, check balances, and see when their bill is due right from the app. There will be a physical titanium card, too, but there’s no credit card number, CVV, expiration date, or signature. All of that authorization information is stored directly in the Apple Wallet app. Apple also says that it’ll use machine learning and Apple Maps to label stores that you use in the app, and use that data to track purchases across categories like “food and drink” or “shopping.” Instead of a points-based reward program, Apple Card gives cash...

On the day of its launch DxOMark published its review of the Xiaomi Mi 9, praising it as the best Xiaomi phone it has tested and giving it the highest video score of any phone. The Xiaomi Mi 9 got an overall score of 107, which secures it the third spot in DxOMark's all time ranking, just behind the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and P20 Pro. The Mi 9 got a 112 photo score and the aforementioned highest video score of 99. In DxOMark's own writing the Xiaomi Mi 9's "target exposure is consistently spot-on, and the camera captures pleasant color with accurate white balance, and without any color shading or other color issues. Noise levels are very well under control in bright light and under typical indoor conditions, and creep up only in low-light situations; and the autofocus system works swiftly and accurately in almost all circumstances." The latest update brings the anticipated biometric authentication that allows users to lock the WhatsApp on their iPhone models by deploying the native Face ID or Touch ID. The new feature, which has been in anticipation since October last year - when the new authentication addition was reported for the first time, works similarly to how you can lock Outlook or Signal on your iPhone. It essentially applies biometric authentication to open WhatsApp. However, the feature doesn't add the additional security to your individual WhatsApp conversations.
